POTATO IMPORTATIONS
GROWERS' STRONG PROTEST (Per Press Association.) ASHBURTON, this day. Potato-growers of the county mot last evening to protest against the importation of Tasmanian potatoes into New Zealand. The following resolution was telegraphed to the Ministers of Agriculture and Customs: "This meeting representing potato-growers of Ashburton County, emphatically protests against the importation of Tasmanian potatoes; if the importations continue the growers will be forced to market potatoes well under the cost of production; Australia prohibits New Zealand potatoes without any sound : reason; in 1923 the growers here wero faced with the same unfair competition: the Commonwealth ■ protects its ■pmail "farmer, surely ours can do the same ana give us British, fair play."
