POOR CONDITION
ISLAND FRUIT SHIPMENT (Special to'the Herald.) AUCKLAND, this day.. A portion of the Waipahl's fruit cargo from Cook Islands unloaded today proved not to be in so good a condition as had been expected. There had been heavy ruin in Rarotonga just before the fruit- was shipped, and it is calculated that there will be a loss of 20 per cent, on the oranges frpm that island.
The results of the shipment are not so satisfactory as those of the previous trip. Merchants, however, arc satisfied that the difficulties are not of a permanent nature, and that the Waipahi is going to bo a valuable acquisition to the trade. ,
