WILL MAKE CLEAN SWEEP
EYRIE AT AUSTRALIA HOUSE MELBOURNE, June 4. Red tape —and mik?B of it. That is the nightmare that is worrying Sir Granville Ryric, Australia's new High Commissioner, who is on his way to London to begin his new job. Sir Granville has a horror of this tape, and he does not think he will bo able to rest, secure in London until lie has swept every inch of it from Australia House. In an interview to-day, ho admitted ■that the place was full of red tape. There will, probably be something doing when General Ryric reaches London, and several people are likely to lose their jobs. "If I find any positions there occupied by Englishmen, and which could be held by Australians, then the Englishmen will have to go," said sir Granville. He is not so sure about the social side of his new job. He is expecting Lady Ryrie to take charge of that department.
