DISTRIBUTION OF FUNDS At the South Island Progress Leagues' conference in Chvistchutch, Mr. J. A. Fleshor (Canterbury) moved: That in the opinion of the conference the apportionment between the North and South Islands of expenditure from the revenue fund of the Main Highways Board should be proportionate to the number of motor vehicles registered in each island, and that the Act should he amended making it mandatory on the hoard to apportion the moneys accordingly, lie said the object of the remit was to prevent the board from taking money from the South Island and spending it on roads in the North. The remit was carried.
An Otago remit, that a policy of standardised construction or reconstruction of main highways he evolved, and that a special road loan be raised to carry such construction and reconstruction into effect, the interest on such loan to he guaranteed from motor taxation and to hear not less than 3 per cent, sinking fund, was parried.
