TENDING TO DETERIORATE 13,000,000 FEWER SHEEP THAN IN j •' 1891 (Received' June 21, 1 p.m.) MELBOURNE, June 21. At the annual meeting of Ooldsbro'ugh, Mori, and Co., the chairman, Mr Niall, said: "Australian wool is tending to deteriorate, and the sheep numbers (without allowing for the drought losses in Queensland, estimated at 7,"0OO,O0O to 8,000.000) are 13.000,000 less than in 1891." Figures, he said, had led some people to think that the industry was in an extremely prosperous condition, and certain politicians were attempting to infrpd'uee legislation to reduce the area of.lapd being' used; for sheep growing. Figures, however, were misleading.
