MR. L. J. PLANK'S NEW POST

Having received notice of his promotion to the hcadmastership of Raetihi school, Mr L. J- Plank will leave Gisborne at the end of July to take up his new post. His departure will be regretted by many friends in Gisborne, who, nevertheless, will be glad' to congratulate Mr. Plank upon his advancement.

Since September, 1916, Mr. Plank has been an assistant at the Gisborne central school, and latterly has been first assistant master, under Messrs. F. J. Rowley and J. McLeod . successively. During that period he has taken a most active part in the organisation of sports fn the primary schools, and has also been a leading figure in Rugby circles outside the schools. We has served on the Poverty Bay Rugby Union and on the Referees' Association, and has also won recognition as one of the best referees of the district. As director of technical insffuction in Gisborne; he has been in close touch with ex-pupils of the primary schools, and has 'been exceptionally "popular for his patience and equable temperament. The New Zealand Educational Institute in Poverty Bay lias had the benefit of his services as hon. secretary, and in many other directions Mr. Plank has energetically served public interests with, satisfaction to his confreres and credit ,to himself.
