The application made by Detective McLeod to Mr, K. 0. LeWey, 8.M., this morning, for tho remand of John ‘Noden Bullard until July 4, was tho tirst made in Gisborne under the new regulations which .permit a rninand for a longer period than eight days, tho previous maximum, in cases where no objection is made by the uccused. Detective tMcLeod intimated to his Worship that the ordinary remand might not suffice for the preparation of the case against the accused.
