NAPIER PARK MEETING

(Per Press Association.) NAPIER, last night. The Napier Park winter meeting was held yesterday in beautiful weather. The totalisator handled £9290, against £14,449 for the second day of last year, this year’s meeting being confined to one day. After Waiooka Jack fell, when 10 lengths in front in the Napier Steeplechase, Kovno and Bonny Rill made all the running. Crown Coin commenced to gather in the. leaders seven furlongs from home and was with them at the home turn. Crown Coin was first over the jump, going on to win by two lengths, with the same distance between second and third. The concluding results were: — Stewards’ Stakes, of 17.7 sovs., one mile: 3 Mint Leaf 10.3 (L. George), and 5 Huikai 9.3 (B. 11. Morris), a dead heat, 1; 1 Royal Diadem 9.13 (L. G. Morris) 3. Also ran: 0 Buoyant, 7 Gaze, 4 Road Hog, 8 Othon. In a fine finish Mint Leaf just got up in time to make a dead heat of it; third horse three lengths away. Time, 1.40 4-5.
