. Mr. R. Campbell, the Harbor Board engineer, left for Wellington to-day to confer with Marine Department officials regarding the proposed hiring of the dredger Maui to the Department for use in connection with the Westport harbor works. Rev. L. If. Fenn, who until recently was in charge of Essex House School, lias been appointed to undertake the duties of curate of Holy Trinity parish for one month from June 20, the date of the Rev. D. J. Davies’ departure for Opunake. Mr Davies preached Jiis farewell sermon last night to a large congregation, which included members of the Masonic Lodge. Mr. H. C. C. Moule, Mas. Bac., will visit the Dominion this year as examiner to the Associated Board, R.A.M. and R.C.M. Mr. Moule, son of a former president of the Corpus Christ i College, was born at Cambridge and educated at Marlborough College, and at 'Trinity College, Cambridge. He received bis musical education under the late Professor Charles Wood, Professor Dent, and Dr. Rodham. Mr. Moule is now a member vof v the University I acuity Board for Music, and also one of the professors of the Royal College of Music. He has not been to New Zealand before.

A touring party comprising Mr. Settle, a merchant of Hinuera, and Mrs. Settle/ and Mr. and Mrs. R. W. _ Hooper, the former manager of the Hinuera dairy factory, are spending their holidays' touring the North Island, and arrived at Morere on 'Saturday from Napier. Mrs. Hooper is a daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Porter, and the party are guests at thb Manse. Mr. Hooper, who lias been attending the dairy conferences in the North Island, hopes to visit the factories in the district, and the party will return home via .Gis-borne.—-Special. At the winter competitions of the New Zealand Piping and Dancing Association, Now'Zealand championship 'meeting, held in Dunedin, the pupils of Misses Flora Sraw and Eonn Bee were successful in annexing the cup>. and being placed in two other events. Miss Tui Cairns won the New Zealand championship and .the much coveted cup, while Miss dcsido Jnrdipo was third in the Irish jig, and Miss Violet- Cameron third in the scan triubhias. The held was oxcoptionallv large, competitor's coming front all parts of the Dominion. Dr. A. Clark, who lias relinquished his duties ns schools medical officer in Hawke's .Hay in order to proceed to the Old Country, wajs iarewelled by members of the Hawke’s Bay Education Hoard on Friday, and opportunity taken to present him with some tangible token of appreciation of his work in Hawke’s Hay for the health of the school children. Members were loud in their praises of Dr. Clark’s work, and as a memento asked him to accept, a silvermounted walking stick. They were supported by Dr. Ada Patterson, Director of the Division of (School Hygiene, Department of Health, who expressed the department’s desire that the utmost recognition should be given Dr. Clark. Borrow at baying to leave his many friends was expressed by Dr. Clark, and be-thanked all tor their kindness arid co-operation. It had made his work a pleasure.
