A FIERCE DUEL
MAGISTRATE’S WIFE AS
COUNSEL
(Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) PARIS, June 5. Should a magistrate's lawyer wife appear before him as counsel? Such a situation created an unseemly brawl in the law courts a few days ago. Opposing counsel suggested such a relationship was out of place, and unfair to the litigant. The magistrate and counsel exchanged healed insults and then Wows, and had to be separated. The sequel yesterday was a fierce six-round sword duel, fought in deadIv earnest in another lawyer’s garden. One of the duellests was twice 'deeply wounded in the arm. Doctors •stopped the duel, but the opponents arc still not reconciled.
