For the fourth time in succession Air. Justice Ostler congratulated Napier district on the comparative freedom from crime. Geo. William Mitchell, who pleaded guilty to sheep-stealing, was admitted to probation for three years and ordered to pay £l5O at the rate of £1 per week.
PALMERSTON N., this day
In the Palmerston North Police Court to-day, Basil Trevor Woodd, 18, pleaded guilty to breaking and entering the dwelling houses of P. C. Toms and R. E. Ivilsbv at Tiritea, and stealing therefrom various articles. Accused was committed to the Supreme Court at Wellington for sentence.
The general committee of the Mannwatu A. and P. Association, meeting in Palmerston North to-day, discussed the question of shifting the date of the Royal Show from the spring to tho autumn. It was resolved . that the Royal Show Society be requested to give 12 months’ notice before action is taken in this respect.
