’NOR-EASTER STRIKES DUNEDIN
MUCH MINOR DAMAGE DONE (Per Press Association.) v> DUNEDIN, this day. A ’nor-c,aster struck the city with driving rain tin's morning, much minor damage to fences and roofs resulting. There were two power breakdowns, the second resulting in the whole power having to be supplied by one transmission line. Launches in Broad Bay were driven from their moorings. SHIPPING DELAYED (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this clay. The Manuka arrived at 1-45 p-m. today, -6£ hours late, from Lyttelton, owing to had coal and unfavorable weather. The Manuka is on the ferry service. The Marajna, from Sydney, should have arrived this morning, but is being delayed by the thick weather. She arrives to-morrow morning. Owing to the strong north-east gale tijere were heavy seas on the coast. r lhe Union Co.’s steamer Waipiata, irom Auckland, has been delayed outside tho Heads. There were no arrivals or departures this morning. Thick, driving rain is sweeping the city, with a howling gale, which shows no sign of abatement.
