Probably on account of the wet weather tho attendance of buyers at Sforttold Lodge (Hawke’s Bay) side on Wednesday was not as large as usual, but among those who wore present competition "as fairly keen. There waS a very fair yarding of cattle, including a nice line of Hereford cross caws and Herefoul cross heifers. The demand for fat bullocks was fairly good, and prices ranged from £7 10s to £7 15s. Store bullocks sold well' at from £5 15s to £6 2s 6d. The market for fat caws was brisk, the top price being £5 .17s 6d, but for pooler quality entries as low as £3 was paid. Store cows were evidently not very Ixidly wanted, for they realised only £1 15s to £2 15s. Fat lreifers of good quality ran up to £6 15s and tho lowest price was £4 10s. There was a good yarding of sheep, and prices generally were a shade higher than those ruling at last week’s sale. The prices for wethers were better than, for several weeks, particularly good pens bringing as high as £1 4s Id, whilst the average worked out, at about £1 3s. Fat ewes also realised good money for the better quality entries. tho best price being 18s, and the lowest 15s.
