MOTH’S RECORD GATHERING

A fine measure of success attended the annual meeting of the Motu Sports Club on Saturday, and the gathering was undoubtedly the best yet held in the district.’ The weather conditions left no room for improvement, and in consequence the meeting drew n large crowd, which spent an enjoyable day witnessing the comprehensive programme of athletic, horse, and chopping events that was staged. The entries in all events constituted a record in the club’s history, as many as 85. taking part in one competition. The finishes, too, were excellent, there being loss than half a minute between the competitors in the standing chops, while in the 100 yards and 220 yards races less than a yard separated the competitors. Grace. > - BRIGHT GATHERING .PUHA SPORTS MEETING The Puha Sports Club held a highly enjoyable meeting at Puho on Saturday, which proved a distinct success, both financially and from the viewpoint of the interest, it provided. The weather was ideal, and as ,a result the gathering was largely attended. The entries for the most part were very good, and' some interesting and spectacular finishes were witnessed. Tho judge of tho horse ovonts, Mr. Thornley Sherratt, fulfilled his duties in a highly satisfactory manner, and much credit for the success of the meeting is due to tho honorary secretary, Mr. G. R. Sefton, who was ably assisted by Mesdamcs Sefton and Coates, and Messrs. T. Coates, and W. T. Rickarfl.- Following nro the results:—

RUATORIA SPORTS SUCCESSFUL" MEETING Under perfect conditions the ltuatoria Sports Club’s annual meeting on Saturday proved most successful, the gathering being well attended, in view of the other attractions in the adjoining districts. Excellent entries were received for almost all the events, and some very fine finishes and competitions were witnessed, particularly iii the 100 yards handicap, Riders from Gisborne attended the meeting for the cycling events, and

easily carried oft: the prizes. Extensive arrangements had been made for the function, and the club was well rewarded, £52 Doing taken at the gate. The. meeting took place on the racecourse, which proved most suitable for such a gathering. Results were as follows: —
