For the month of March the following returns of revenue at Wairoa and WaiIkokopu. were shown, the figures for Wairoa—Wharfages (£2O lbs 6dj, £7l lbs 8d; port charges (.£6 3s 2d), Ml 15s 6<l. Waikokopu —Wharfages (£175 19s lid), £62 10s lid: port charges (£Bl 7s ! 2d), £92 Os lOd. ' Exports: Wairoa, 85 ’ bales wool (5); Waikokopu—Bo4 bales of | wool (661); mutton and lamb carcases, 25,172 (15,460). Arrivals and depar- ■ lures: Wairoa —20 (3); Waikokopu 20 ' (24). Ten vessels worked the port during the month. Mr. it. S. Herbert has returned home to Nuliaka after a month’s sojourn in Wairoa.

Nurse Donkin, who lias been on the ! staff of the county hospital for the last , three years, has resigned her position. ! Mr. William McGowan, aged 70, a single man, died at the county hospital on Thursday. He was a brother of the : late Thomas McGowan, and in the earlier , days he carried out plastering and sanitary work, and of late years was a successful concrete pipe manufacturer. The remains were interred in the Wairoa cemetery on Friday, the Eev. Father Le j Fret re officiating. ! JMr. D. Ashy, of Otane, formerly a ! Wairoa resident, is re-visiting this district.
