PROFESSOR SPEIGHT'S VISIT Advice has been, received by the Gisborne Harbor Board to the effect that Professor Speight, the eminent geologist, will pay a. visit to Whareongaonga quarry during the Eas.-.e" vacation. The visit is the outcome of .in invitation issued by the Harbor Board after its last meeting. Members of the beard, having visited the quarry and found the first i'.tee well opened up, expressed a desire to have a further report from Professor .Speight on the quality of the stone exposed by the quarrying operations to date, it"being pointed out that it would he of great assistanee to the hoard to know whether the stone exposed bore out the geologist's opinion bused on an examination made two years ago. It was further pointed out that a confirmation of the, previous report would lift a degree of responsibility from the board itself.
Professor Speight's visit is fixed .to coincide with the Easter vacation of the Canterbury College, where he holds the chair of geology.
