FORGOTTEN IN MORGUE LAUNCESTON, Dec. 4 An extraordinary oversight is reported to have occurred at the Devon Hospital, Latrobe. On takiiig the dead body of a patient into the morgue, the body of a man who had died some 10 days .previously, was discovered lying on the slab. Four men employed at the Sandringham Council \s quarry at Deer Park yesterday had placed charges in the quarry, and had taken shelter in a galvanised iron building 300 yards away. The shots were fired, and throe minutes after tie.' men left the building there was a terrific explosion. The iron shack was lined bodily fro/n the ground, and pieces of iron ami timber burled for distance up to ISO yards. In the building before the explosion there was a bag containing 31,1 b. of gelignite, l and six detonators. It. is thought that the u plosion was caused by a lighted cigarette. CHURCH ON FIRE PERTH, Dec. 10. Incendiarism is suspected in connection with a fire at St. Alban’s Anglican Church, Gladstone. The large crowd which gathered was unable to save the vestry, vestments, church records, and other articles. Another blaze in the porch of tho adjoining parish lmll was noticed and extinguished.
