A good trip from Taupo was made yesterday by Mr. A. J. Barnard, who, travelling via Napier, accomplished the journey to Gisborne in 13 hours. Mr. Barnard said that despite all the wet weather, the road was in good order, allowing steady travelling all the way through. He added that many motorists who had gone through to Taupo district to camp had had an unenviable experience. It was practically impossible to secure accommodation and motorists spent the night in their caj's. Deserted roadmen's huts and all sorts of weird places wore utilised by benighted travellers who sought to get out of the rain.
