MARLBOROUGH DIVORCE

ANGLICAN CHURCH ATTITUDE LONDON, Nov. 17. Friends of the former Duchess of Marlborough who live in London are anxiously awaiting the official reaction of the Anglican Church, if any, of the annulment of Her marriage. Thus far, the church authorities have been conservative in expressing their \icws, and it is assumed that they await further details of the. action of tho Southwark Diocesan Court and tho sacred Rota tribunal at Rome, and tho actual grounds on which tho decree was granted. Tho position of tho offspring of the Marlborough marriage is rather unique. They are the Marquis,,, of Blandford, who'was born in- 1897, is married and has two children, and Lord Ivor Charles, born in 1898. In the eyes of the Roman Catholic Church, the marriage from which they sprang ■ did not exist, but a Roman Catholic authority has explained that tho decree of nullity from the Vatican has no legal force, and therefore, in the eyes of the civil law, the Marlborough offspring are in no way affected.

Should cither the duke or Consuclo, having regularised their own personal positions in the eyes of the Roman Catholic Church, wish similarly to regularise the position of their children, it is declared there would be no serious obstacle, and tho process of adjustment would be an easy matter, amounting, possibly, to a simple declaration.
