OLD COUNTRY GOSSIP.
PEER TO RUN A MILK SHOP. LONDON, October 4. A small shop at Motherwell, near Glasgow, where certified milk and vegetables arc to be sold, is to be conducted. it is stated, under the direction oi Lord Hamilton of Dalzell. The shop, for which plans have been passed, is to be designed in an oldfashioned style, with a thatched roof. Lord Hamilton of Dalzell, who is fifty-four, has a seat at Dalzell, Motherwell, and owns about 2500 acres. Ho was formerly a lord-in-waiting to King Edward *VII. and to King George. He served in the South African war with the Imperial Yeomanry, and in the great war with the Scots Guards.

By tlio engagement of Captain Nugent-Hoad, M.C., 4th Queen’s Own Hussars, ami Miss Bettinc Hankoy, the only daughter of Lieut.-Colonel Sydney Hnnkey, of 7, Tito street, Chelsea, S.W., which has just been announced, has arisen a tangle of family interrelationship .sufficient to make one hold one's head.
■ - uni be seen from the following facts, Captain Nugent-Head is to wed the daughter of his-brother-in-law; his two nephews will be step-brothers cl’ liis wife; and both his wife's father 'in(l ho brother will bo his brothers-in-TWO MARRIAGES. 'Phis curious situation has been caused by the following two riages:-Lieut.-Colonel Sydney Hnnkey married some years ago as his second wife Miss D. Nugent-Head. A little later his son by his first wife, Mr. Thomas S. Hankoy, married M'iss Angela Nugent-llead, the sister of his father’s second wife. Now Captain Nugent-Head, the brother of the present Mrs Sydney Hankey and of Mrs Thomas Hankoy, has become engaged to the daughter of Colonel Sydney Hankoy by his first wife.
Col. Tlankoy Ims two sons by his second wife. These are tho nephews of Captain Nugent-Head, and also the stop-brothers of his fiancee. Col. Hinnkey's new son-in-law will also be his brother-in-law and his son’s brother-in-lnw. Col. Hankoy's, two sons by his second marriage will have an aunt who is also a sf op-sister. Air. T. 8. Hnnkey's two children already have a” aunt who is also a cousin. Their father too is also their cousin. Any children of the marriage will have Col. Svdnov Hankey ns a grandfather and ns an uncle also.
