A FORGOTTEN HOARD,
£llOO IN DRAIN PIPE
(Special to the Herald.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Some people have all the luck. A sum of £1470 was found in an old shed and in a hut on the property of a resident of Prebblotoii. This lucky, man is Steven Fenwick. Jlc said after the discovery that he lmd an idea that the money was somewhere about, but he was not surq exactly where ‘it has."
The discovery was made by a young man ‘ named 'Middleton," who lives nearby, ivhile lie was dismantling an old .sited on Mr. Fenwick's property. Middleton came oi a (train pipe. tie gave it a tap and some silver began to trickle out. Apparently the silver went on trickling out of tho pipe. It grew into quite a stream. There w'ero also lots of banknotes in the pipe. When tho hoard was counted' it amounted to £I4OO. Later a search was made in a hut on Mr. Fenwick's property ami a further £7O was found hidden in tins. Mr. Fenwick is an old man and a bachelor. He had forgotten whero he luid hidden the £1470.
