BIG PUBLISHING DEAL. LONDON, November 18. Shareholders of the Amalgamated Press, Ltd. (the magazine publishing house founded by the late Lord Northclifl'c) have passed a resolution in favor of selling their interests for £8,027,719 to the .Sir Win. Berry group. SPANISH LOAN SUCCESS. An issue of Spanish Treasury bonds amounting to 225,000.000 pesetas (£7,0C0.C00) has been over-subscribed threefold, a fact which is regarded as an indication of confidence in the present regime.
GERMAN WEMBLEY PLANNED. BERLIN. November 10._ Undaunted by the financial losses incurred' by the promoters of the Wembley and Philadelphia Exhibitions, the Germans are preparing a monster international architectural exhibition to be held in 1950. The Berlin municipal authorities have placed at the promoters' disposal the FJichkamp Playground, near the forest of Grunowald, and have also promised financial support. The Federal and Prussian State Governments have also agreed' to contribute.
The export tax on French eggs has been raised by 50 per cent., and it is thought that this will considerably reduce the number sent to England.
