MINISTER FAW)RS TREE PLANTING. (Por Press Association.) WHANGAREI, last night. Tlie Minister of Agriculture. Mr. 0. J. Hawken, speaking at. the Whangarei Chamber of Commerce dinner to-night, referred to deteriorated lands, and said it would ho better if such lands were planted in trees. 71c was in favor of seeing all land in the Dominion producing something, and advocated bringing swamp lands to a state of productivity. If the Government could help in any way to obtain the, desired object, lie, as Minister of Agriculture Mould use his best endeavors on that behalf.

Mr. Hawken referred to the high cost of farming, and said that he would dq his best to reduce it. He paid a high tfibnte to the North penernllv and how it bad progressed during th& last few rears.
