BRISK BIDDING

GOOD SALE AT MATAWHERO There was a fairly good attendance of the public at the* Matawhero stock sale to-day, but only a moderate entry of store sheep. Up till the luncheon adjournment most of the larger pens had been offered. Bidding was brisk. a good sale resulting. Four-tooth wethers made 17s 10d, 2-th 15s 9d, and 2-th ewes 16s lOd. FAT CATTLE.

There was am entry of 21 fat cattle, the quality of most of the entry being only medium. Bidding was easy throughout. Four-prime heavy bullocks were penned, and brought £8 Lis and £8 ss. One prime cow was passed at £s'los, and another at £4 15s, while a heifer was sold at £4 ss. Lower figures were offered for the rest of the entry. Prices were: —3 cows (p) £5, 1 do., plain Jersey (p) £2, 1 do., prime (p) £5 10s, 2 do. no bid, 1 heifer (p) £3 10s, 2 do. (p) £3 10s, 1 no. (p) £3 10s, 1 cow, Jersey, no bid, 1 do. do. £4 15s, 3 cows £3 10s, 2 do., Jersey, £3 ss, 1 cow (p) £4 15s, 2 prime bullocks (p) £8 ss, 2 do. do £8 15s, 1 heifer £4 ss.

Except where otherwise stated, till' sheep offered at the sale were shorn. FAT SHEEP. The entry of fat sheep totalled 215, comprising several pens of prime ewes of freezing quality. The highest price for shorn ewes w r as 10s 7d for a line of 57 over-weight sheep, and prime freezing ewes sold to 14s. Good wethers made 21s, and woolly owes 20s 4d and 21s. Prices were:—s4 ewes, prime (p) 13s, 17 do. do (p) 14s, 32 wethers 21s. 12 do., woolly, 20s, 14 wethers 20s lid, 10 do. 19*s 4d, 57 ewes 10s 7d, 7 do, maiden, 20s 4d, 5 do. do. 18s, I wether (p) 15s 6'd, 3 ewes 13s 3d.
