SOME STRANGE QUERIES
LITTLE KNOWN NEW ZEALAND /Special to the Herald.) AUCKLAND, this day. "Enclosed is a copy of our catalogue, and we shall be very glad indeed to know if there are means whereby we can circulate this list amongst English-speaking residents in your midst." In this wise does the general manager of a large Manchester firm seek the services of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce in its efforts to extend business. The writer also, asks if there is in existence a directory of the "English" residents.
That the C.O.D. system is appreciated, even by British firms who are doubtful as to the class of inhabitants living in this far-off Dominion, is indicated by a further query: "Are there any difficulties for the private person importing goods for personal use by parcel post, with particular reference to Customs, etc?"
