Fat. cattle were low in price, and n number of pens were passed in. Prices ranged. 1 as follow:—Fat cattle £9 15s to £ls 15s; fat cows £6 to £9 15s; fat heifers £7 10s to £9; four-year forward' bullocks up tu £8 ss; 3-yr steers £4 15s to £5 10s; fat shorn wethers 18s 6d to 21s; far, ewes los 9d to las 6d AUCKLAND MAIZE REPORT. The maize market continues firm, as arrivals coming forward are barely sufficient for the requirements of the market, reports the Auckland Star. The South African shipment on the Phalatta is not expected in Auckland until the first week in December. Merchants have Hickory King seed on this vessel, but by the lime it arrives the demand for planting will probably be over, in which case the grain will have to he sold for grinding purposes at a considerable loss to the importers. Hound yellow is now available, and small quantities of Horse Tooth, both, varieties being in keen de maud.
