NOTES AND NEWS
KGO COMES IN WELL GOOD N.Z. PROGRAMMES. On {Sunday night KGO, Los Angelos, was heard in Gisborne with exceptional volume and clarity, and those listeners who did not attempt to hook on to the American station missed a rare treat. KGO came in with considerably greater volume than any of the Australian stations on Sunday, and with conditions' at their best, the programme from America was much appreciated. Scottish songs formed a part of the programme, and the orchestral and other items were loud and distinct. When looking for KGO listeners should remember that the tuning for American stations is very line, and much care must be exercised before the broadcaster can usually lie located. The Australians have not been too good of late, and many listeners have been disappointed with them, fading lias been particularly noticeable, and 2LB, Sydney, appears to bo the only station which comes in with anything like consistent volume.
The Now Zealand programmes during the past Jive or six nights have been of a tine standard, ami the entertainments put on the air have been interesting and enjoyable. The organ recital from Auckland on Sunday night was well received, and the orchestral, vocal and instrumental selections broadcast: front the various stations each night-have been equally good.
Listeners will be -interested to learn that the New Zealand Broadcasting Co. has enlisted “Uncle .lack” of 2BL fame, to look after its affairs. “Uncle Jack” was the successful one of about To applicants for the position.
