RUGBY LEAGUE (Elco. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association;; (Received November 25. 3 p.m.) LONDON, November 24. The Rugby League Council discussed the agreement with the Australian board and the New Zealand League in respect to the'two years' residential qualification. The matter was deferred till the next meeting on December 12. The meeting also considered Australia’s invitation to send a team ifi 1928. and appointed a sub-committee to discuss matters of mutual interest- with the New Zealand manager before his departure hv the Cathav on January 23.

BOWLS THE DOMINION TOURNAMENT. Seven rinks from Australia, will visit New Zealand to take part in the Dominion bowling tournament at Auckland in January. Mr. A. J. Darker, of Auckland, who has returned from a- visit to. Australia, said lie interviewed the bowling authorities of Now Smith Wales. Victoria and South Australia on behalf of the Dominion Bowling Council, and tin' seven rinks were promised. In ad (lition to this he stated! two touring teams of Australian howlers would visit New Zealand some time in February.

INTER-COLLEGIATE CRICKET

NAPIER V. GISBORNE The annual cricket match between Napier and Gisborne High School teams will be played at the Oval tomorrow and Saturday, it being the turn of the Napier team to visit Gisborne. The southern eleven arrived this afternoon,, under the charge of Mr. Armour, headmaster of the Napier High School. It includes a number of those who met the local side last year, and one or two now players of promise. It is expected that the game will be'as hard-fought as last year’s, ia which Gisborne put up an unexpected rally in the second innings. Gisborne’s eleven is a fairly sound one, and at present stands at the head of the I’overtv Dnv championship table. ' r

BOXING MIX-UP

The father of one of the principals created a sensation during a hoxipg contest at Hull this evening. Con. O’Kelly was opposed to Dave Magill, tile Irish heavyweight Champion. .In the 11th round, O’Kelly N father threw in the towel, hut neither the refeTeo nor Magill noticed his action.

As the bout, was proceeding, O’Kelly’s father jumped into the ring and flung Magill into his corner. Magill was about, to retaliate angrily when an'explanation was given.

ENGLISH REGRETS

LONDON, November 18. Major Larcombe, secretary of the All-England Tenuis Club, commenting on J. Oi' Ahdprson’s decision to turn professional, sa'id “Although Anderson knows his own busjness best,'“the: English public enormously regret that he has turned professional.
