600 RABBIS' CITED. -t : ' NEW YORK, Oct. 6. In connection with the new drive by the Federal "dry’’ forces, 600 rabbis were Cited to-day before the Grand Jury investigation as violating the law restricting the supply of wine for sacramental purposes. ‘ Heads of Hebrew families are legally permitted one gallon of wine per year, but it is alleged that many rabbis habitually falsify their altplication, in that they wrongfully slate Hie number of members belonging to their congregation eligiole for the issuance of wine, and themselves dispose of the excess quantity. Another interesting development today was the capture of a steam trawler, the Hohenmimlcii, flying the British flag, with £20,000 worth of choice liquor aboard. The ilohenmiiiden, of 150 tons register, and sailing from Quebec, was described as one of the oldest offenders in the rum-funning trade. Th** trawler was caught in the Lower Raw New York, after successfully running ti e gauntlet of the defensive forces. before discovery the jfiohenmiiiden had successfully 'discharged 'half of her cargo, and before the coastguards could arrive alongside'every member of her crew escaped on shore.
