EXTENSIVE BUSH FIRES PALL OF SMOKE OVER CITY BRISBANE, Oct. 14. Bush fires now completely encirelc Brisbane, and a thick pall of smoko lias settled over the city, making it impossible to see more than the length of a street, while on the river the position is more acute, and navigation is rendered extremely difficult. DAMAGE IN NEW SOUTH WALES SYDNEY, Oct. 14. * Bush fires continue to rage along the North Coast, causing extensive damage. So far no fatalities are reported, but unless the blaze is speedily checked widespread devastation will bo caused. Telephonic and telegraphic communication is badly interrupted.
