MOTORISTS' CAMP

HAMILTON SUGGESTION PRETTY RIVER SITE (Special to the Herald.) AUCKLAND., this day. The acquisition of an area of land for '.he establishment of a, motorists' camp in Hamilton has occupied the attention of the Hamilton branch of the Auckland Automobile Association for some time, and a suggestion was brought forward at a meeting of the executive that a river bank site which had been favorably reported on should be selected for the purpose. Mr. ,1. Gilbert said the sub-committee appointed to go into the proposal had in view an area of two acres in a charming situation on the bank of the Waikato river, having a frontage of 300yds to the water. The site was a picturesque one, and besides being in a convenient locality, was easy of access. It was an ideal place for a camp. Ample shade and shelter was .available, and water could easily be obtained. It was suggested that a syndicate could be formed and the tamp conducted on commercial lines, even including the erection of a kiosk if the expenditure was thought to be warranted, Messrs. J. Gilbert and W. Hobbs were instructed to report further on the proposal, and to evolve a scheme for providing the necessary finance.
