Clement Murphy, who escaped from Mm Waikeria, Borstal and was captured at daylight on Sunday, appeared before Justices to-day. Escape was effected bv Murphy, who wis undergoing sentence of tliveo years, and by Leonard Smith, during the lunch hour on Thursday, when engaged on farm work. When recaptured Murphy had swum the Puniu river to evade the guard at the bridge. He threatened to escape again the first chance if returned to Waikeria. " Send me to Mount Eden," he said, and I will give you no more bother." He complains that the food at Waikeria caused hi.s dislike for the institution. He pleaded guilty to the charge of escaping from custody and was committed to the Supreme 'Court at Auckland for sentence. 'Smith, who has been recaptured, has yet to bo dealt with by tlic authorities.
