APPOINTMENT TO LODGES METHOD DEPRECATED After hearing the views of a deputation from the British Medical Association in. rotat'd to the matter of appointing medical officers to lodges where there were no vacancies, and no applications for such positions being called for hv advertisements, the Otago l riited 1' liondiy Societies council passed the billowing resolution, which came before the halfyearly meeting of the .Manchester L nited in the form of a report-:--"That- the Otago I’nited Friendly Societies’ council prepare and send a circular to the various executives of all societies, requesting them to circularise their individual brunches pointing out that it had come under the notice of the council that canvassing had taken place In have additional medical officers attached to lodges without the position being advertised and without notification being sent to the existing medical officers that such an additional medical officer was to he appointed.” A deputation from the British Medical AssociaI ion had waited on the council stressing their disapproval of these methods being .adopted and urging that when vacancies occur for medical officers that applications should be invited for the positions as Intel boon done in the past. The council agreed with the representations as put forward by the deputation from the British Medical Association. and recommended to till lodges that the method adopted on this par-' ticular occasion lie. discontinued, and trusted that there would be no cause for complaint in tho future.
