H.M.S. DUNEDIN

ARRIVAL ON OCTOBER 11 NO CIVIC RECEPTION There will be no civic'reception to Commander Swabey and the officers of H.M.S. Dunedin when the warship arrives in the Cisborne roadstead on October 11*. The function has been waived at the suggestion of the Commodore. The Mayor, Air. (!. Wildish, will join the Harbor Board party which will call on the Commodore when the vessel first arrives, and on the following day the call will be returned without any public gathering. H. M. S. Dunedin will drop anchor in tha Gisborne roadstead at 4 o'clock on the afternoon of October, and on the following day arrangements will lie made for the visits uf school children to the vessel. The visits will take place between 10 a.m. and 12 noun, and between 1.30 and 6 p.m. It- is desired that no children be aboard the ship during the lnnch hour of the ship's company, and therefore those taken out in the morning will have to return by the noon boats. In regard to the entertainment of tko ship's company. Commodore Swabey lias advised that 50 men desire to avail themselves of the motor trip offered by Gisborne citizens. This party could if more convenient, be divided into two. 2b men taking the trip on Tuesday arid the balance on Wednesday. The.. ship's company, with the exception of men engaged en special duties, will be piven leave- from 4.c0 in the afternoon until 7 a.m. next day during the visit of H.M.S. Dnnediu. The H.JI.a Dunedin will visit Opotiki on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday next. Arrangements afc being made to convey school children,put to the warship by the scow Otimai which is being lent for the occasion by the Northern .Steamship Co.
