ABANDONED
DE PINEDO'S FLIGHT OFFICIAL ADVICE (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Official advice has been received by, the Minister of Defence from tho Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs that, according to a Note from the Italian Embassy, the proposed aerial cruise, round the world by tho Marchese di Finedo in tho hydroplane, Dorier Marina, has been abandoned indefinitely, owing to technical difficulties. In July, while attempting to alight at Pisa, after a test flight, the big seaplane was capsized by a. huge wave and completely wrecked. Major Oonti was drowned. It is assumed that this, and the difficulties of arranging the route, caused the abandonment of the flight.
