TOO FAR APART
DOMINIONS & HOMELAND GREATER STUDY NEEDED. TO DEVELOP ECONOMICALLY. (Received October 2, 12 noon.) BRISBANE, October 2. Tho Empire Parliamentary delegation was tendered a banquet at Bundaberg, at which the subject, of the relations of the Dominions and the Mother Country were touched upon. Mr. Savage said they did not seem to get very close to the realities of tho situation. It was like taking part in a boxing match with six ounce gloves at 800 yards. One speaker had said that capital and labor should get closer together. It seemed to be that they had got too dose together on tho wrong lines. He believed the duty of the delegation was to investigate Colonial ronditions, as well as the conditions obtaining in Britain. Investigations should be made into the economic conditions to determine what secondary industries could be developed in tho Dominions, and what secondary industries could be economically developed in Britain. There was no use giving lip service if they wished to develop economically.
