DANGER FROM KITES
WARNING TO CHILDREN (Special to the Herald.) ' AUCKLAND, this day. The danger of children flying kites in tho vicinity of electric power lines is emphassed by public notices that are issued by the electrical branch of the i’ublic Works Department. Yesterday a kite with a long string attached was found caught in a 50,000 volt line near the department’s substation in Te Aroha, Hamilton East. Had the line been wet it would have been fatal for anyone to have touched it, while the roofs of houses over which it passed would have become electrified. The department invites the co-opera-tion of parents and school teachers to impress upon children the serious danger involved in the pastime of kites flying where electrical lines run in the Waikato.
