LARGEST IN EUROPE. LONDON, Sep!ember 4. London now lias the largest plaid in Europe for the pumping and purificalion of water. The Minister of Health. 11 it' Hon. Neville Uliamherlain, has formerly opened the new gigantic pumping slut ion al Walloti-on-Thames. Infill for a noimal daily capacity of 17,500,030 gallons, which can lie doubled in an emergency. The water supply is fust run through 18 primary fillers and is afterwards run through six secondary fillers having a total area of live acres. The plant.-, including 18 miles of direct pipeline,, cost nearly £1.690,(XX).
