MISTOOK THE ROAD
CAR PLUNGES INTO RIVER TWO OCCUPANTS DROWNED SVDNEV,' Sept. 30. A motor car near Burke plunged into the river and two men —W. Jones and T. Curtis —were drowned. Details of the tragedy disclose that Jones and Curtis went for a ride with Richard Luscombe, an hotelkeeper ol Burke. They were returning home when the driver mistook the road and took the turning leading to the river. Before the mistake was discovered, the car fell 20ft over the into the river. As it fell, the vehicle turned over, pinning the occupants beneath it in shallow water. Luscombe extricated himself and made his way to the nearest farm. In iiis delirious state, lie could not. give a coherent story of the happening.
