POSTAL THEFTS
LETTERS TAMPERED WITH YOUTH BEFORE COURT .(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. The disappearance of large stuns of money from letters in private letter boxes at the Chief Post- Office has engaged the attention of the postal authorities for "two months past. I.otters were sometimes sealed up and replaced after postal notes had been extracted. Sometimes a note was written on the envelope: “Opened by postal authorities.” Yesterday a youth was arrested ami charged with the theft- of a 10s poslal note. It was stated in court that he had admitted a number o? offences. He was remanded for a week.
