The Mayor, to-day, made . a statement in regard to the reappearance of the unemployment difficulty, and suggested that, in view of the fact that there was a limit to the funds which local bodies had available to give relief, the business people and private citizens could greatly assist m over-coming the difficulty, by putting in hand, without delay, any work which they have in view. There are at the present time old men registered on the Labor Dcpaitmeut’s books, and this, considering the population of Wellington, is regarded as rather serious.
