DUNEDIN’S CUSTOMS
LAST MONTH’S DKCRKASE. (l’er Press Association.) DUNEDIN, last night. The amount of nett Customs duty collected at Dunedin office during the month ending to-day was £80,410 3's lid, and tlie beer duty amounted to £18,203 4,s od. For September of last year thy figures wore: Customs duty £62,211 2s 2d, beer duty £16,403 19s 3d. During July, August, September quarter of this year the nett Customs duty amounted to £207,635 2s 4d and the beer duty to £51,363 7s 4d. The amounts collected during the corresponding quarter of last year were: Customs duty £240.928 Is 9cl, beer duty £52,480 13s lid. The striking decrease of Customs duty, as compared with the quarter of last year, is chiefly due to the sinking cf the Port lyembia,
