5000 DROWNED
CAUGHT IN TYPHOON FISHING FLEET LOST DISASTER OFF HONGKONG • (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.l (Sydney Sun Cables.) (Received Sept. 30. 11 a.m.) HONGKONG, Sept. 29. Monday's typhoon was responsible for a disaster to the Macao fleet of fishing junks, comprising several hundred vessels. A few broken junks limped into Hongkong to-day. while incoming steamers were bringing in survivors picked up from the wreckage. It is estimated that SCOO were drowned.
