A. Native health officer has been appointed 1 for the Maori villages tib Roto.ma- as the outcome of the recent Royal Oommmission. It is hoped that the reconstruction scheme c.ontempktedl for the native villages and other loun-pla.n-nitig recommendations by the Commission will be undertaken by the (laveninicut before the Duke's visit, "A 'drunk' in a train is n much bigger nuisance than an ordinary 'drunk,'" commented Mr. J. 0. L. Hewitt, S.M., at tho Magistrate|a Court at Palmerston North when fining a seaman £1 for being drunk on an express. "You can't got away from such 'drunks/ " added tho Magistrate in explanation.
