Emphasising that the opening of the Imperial Conference is expected to synchronise with the launching of the Empire Marketing Board’s £1,000,000 scheme for advertising the Empire, tin: Daily News’ political cori-ccpoiuleiit suggests that this effort to focus the British people's attention on Ihe Dominions might, 'be strengthened by partially opening the conference, to the press. Hi declares that there is lenson to believe that, the British Government is now opposed to doing so. It is mot contended that all sessions ought- to be open, but there should not bp any difficulty about the inaugural and closing sessions. The newspaper urges that other -mb jeels might, Ivi openly debated. This would add fresh interest in the eyes ot tile nations of the world, instead of, mat. present, bald communiques, and flat, eliilly, almost univndahlc reports.
