THE HAWKE CUP.
COVETED BY HAWKE’S BAY
“I must say that the Hawke Cup should be in our possession,” slated Mr. E. 11. Williams, president, at a recent meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Cricket Association. “For years we wero in the Blanket Shield competition, and 1 cannot help feeling that as wo were good enough to be in that for years, the lfawko Cup should be our property. We should win and hold it. If wo are going to win I would suggest we make a great effort and undergo proper training. “This season we have two cricketers with us, Lowry and Worker, who stand out above all others. They have earned their laurels, and ought to boot great assistance. If they play regularly and do their utmost- to assist young players, I see no reason why wo should not only hold the Hawke Cup, but should show ourselves to be competent to co into Blanket Shield contests again. That is what I would like to see. v
