PACIFIC CABLE BOARD
NEW ZEALAND MANAGER MR. MARKMAN APPOINTED (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Mr. A. T. Markman. secretary of the Post and Telegraph Department, has resigned the position and accepted that of general manager of Ihe Pacific Cable Board for New Zealand. He has been 36 years in the Government service, and became secretary three years ago.

The , reafion of the post Mr. Markman n„w takes is looked upon as a presumption thai the Pacific Cable Hoard expects a big expansion of New Zealand business as soon as the cable is duplicated, which should be well before the cod of Ihe year;
