'Tiie Sketch, pointing out that New York girl swimmers, contributing ,small amounts, paid Miss Gertrude Ederle’s expenses, including two Months’ training in 1925 and 1926, the services ot the best, trainers, payment for a tug to be available from July onward, and the expenses of a chaperone in 1925, and of tier father and sister in 1926, urges English girls to contribute a shilling each to finance a woman champion, to be selected after a series of trials, to attack Miss Ejlerle’s record. Radio messages from the Berengaiitt state that Miss Ederle is besieged by wealthy visitors aboard the vessel. She tuts received scores of offers of vaudeville and swimming stunt .engagements.
