There is one increasing danger on the bitumised roads, Wherever these are narrow, and thai is the deep watertables that are being scoured out. In wet weather, oriec oh" the bitumen, cars skid and go axle deep into the water-table and must be jacked out. The hist few days has witnessed an exodus of visitors. Mrs Clouston, who has been visiting her sister, Mrs Suckling, with her family, has returned 1o Wellington, whilst Mrs Yule, who has been the guest of Mrs Tail, has returned to Napier. Mr. and Mrs Stokes ; are visiting Napier. .Amongst the visitors'staying at the Springs Hotel are and Mrs Tuelin and family, of Palmerston North. Miss Magill, the school mistress, :is creating, great interest amongst the scholars in a new competition, the names and work of every scholar with less than three .mistakes and neat work being exhibited in a conspicuous place.
