WASHINGTON, June 12,

An amazing picture of American political corruption has been drawn by witnesses before fthe Senate Investigation Committee, which is inquiring into the expenditure of nearly 1,500,000 dollars by candidates at the recant primary elections in Pennsylvania, which resulted in the choice of Mr. Vare. The primaries, under the American law, provide for a poll among aspirants for nomination for office, whereat only regularly enrolled members of the party cast a vote.

One witness declared that one aspirant had 35,000 so-called watches in one district, each whereof received ten dollars, while the total vote cast for this aspirant in that district was less than 50,000. Tho witness said that, when the time for paying out came, it was like a rush on a bank. Other witnesses told of voters being helped to mark their ballots by armed men who were brought in. Tear gas and bombs were- used, and every conceivable form of malpractice instituted.
